Emily Block
Emily Bloch of PFO Research Foundation. Emily Block is a stroke survivor and is happy to be serving on the Board of PRF. She had multiple strokes before finally being diagnosed with a PFO and having the procedure to have it closed on Halloween, 2007. She is happy to report that she hasn’t had any more strokes since the PFO closure and wants to make sure that every patient has access to up-to-date and unbiased information regarding PFOs and associated complications.
As soon as she was stable after her last stroke, Emily began volunteering with her local chapter of the American Heart and Stroke Association and has been thrilled to take her advocacy efforts to the state and national levels.
Emily lives in California where she attends the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. She is studying biology and kinesiology with the hope of working in health care. In addition to school, Emily is kept busy with the ongoing rehabilitation from her strokes, volunteer work in the local community, and time spent with her family and friends. She enjoys reaching out to other PFO and stroke patients and raising awareness that young people can have strokes too.
