Brian Whisenant
Dr. Brian Whisenant is Intermountain Healthcare’s medical director for structural heart disease. A graduate of Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr. Whisenant trained in internal medicine at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. He completed fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology at the University of California San Francisco, and an additional fellowship in interventional cardiology at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Dr Whisenant held faculty positions the University of California San Diego and the University of Utah prior to joining Intermountain Healthcare.
Dr. Whisenant is a founder of Coherex Medical, a medical device company specializing in PFO closure where he has actively participated in designing the Coherex Flatstent as well as clinical trials of PFO closure in migraine and sleep hypoxia. Dr. Whisenant lives in Salt Lake with his wife and 3 children who prefer skiing and hiking over the hospital.
